An important step in scientific relations between Uzbek and Japanese seismologists

From 2 to 14 October 2025, with the aim of developing international cooperation in the field of seismology, a group of scientists consisting of the Vice-President of the Academy of Sciences of the Republic of Uzbekistan, S.Z. Mirzaev, and employees of the G.A. Mavlyanov Institute of Seismology, are on a working visit to Nagoya University in Nagoya, Japan.
The purpose of the trip is to strengthen scientific ties between the institutes and to discuss the results of the applied research project ‘Creation of a digital simulation model to economically assess the level of damage to the city of Tashkent from strong earthquakes,’ funded by the Agency for Innovative Development under the Ministry of Higher Education, Science and Innovation - agreement ALM-202311142839, concluded on 1 April 2024, as well as familiarisation with Japan's advanced methods of seismic modelling and economic assessment of the consequences of earthquakes. Conducting more extensive research in this area in the future through the exchange of experience and further development of scientific ties.
